Thur. 9/22 - Really awesome team-meeting about "Grit" and "Positive Psychology", then we examined Classical China's belief systems and chronology.
We began today with an important, and predictably needed, team-meeting. It is about this time of year that students begin feeling overwhelmed, and naturally they begin to question the validity of what we are doing (i.e. "busy work", "too much work", etc.). So we focused on the concepts of "Grit" (see TED Talk embedded below) and "Positive Psychology" in terms of their importance not only to this course, but more importantly to life in general. The more of us, Bags included, that assert these ideals, the more successful and enjoyable this course/year will be. I'll keep you all on the path as best I can, I expect the same in reverse. Then we tried to fit in a quick viewing of Crash Course #7 "2000 years of Chinese History! The Mandate of Heaven and Confucius!", although we didn't have quite enough time to finish, hence...
HW: By tomorrow...
Note: The quiz was moved to Monday, so priortize the above and finish the GetAFives, other Crash Courses, and the reading packet after that is done (by Monday at latest but you'll get new work tomorrow so...).
Keep your heads up, be gritty, control what you can control, find the value in things!
I'll see you all tomorrow (don't forget test corrections at 7AM!).
