Learning targets:

  1. Define and use the Cornell note-taking system.
  2. What is grit-define and break it into its component parts.  Explain how the idea of a growth mindset is connected to grit.
  3. What does it look like in action-how would you know that another person-or you-has grit?
In your Cornell note form, write the LT’s.  Watch the Angela Duckworth video and take notes.  We will practice the process with the video.

For your Cornell notes:
  1. Complete the date; fill in the Essential Question, #2 above.
  2. Take notes of the video in the notes section. Read Step 2 of the handout on page 111.
  3. Follow step 3 after the video is completed.
  4. Following step 3, follow step 4 and come up with questions based upon Costa’s Levels of Thinking-at least one for each step.  Then compare your notes and questions with a neighbor and make revisions as necessary.

In your Cornell note form, write the LT’s.  Watch the Angela Duckworth video and take notes.  We will practice the process with the video. After the video, we will have a chalk talk.  The cool thing about a chalk talk is that no one speaks-it is totally silent.  This is the process:
  • In the middle of your paper (which I will give to you) write in color these two questions. Respond for 10 minutes.  Use a different color for each question as you respond, using the  information from the article and the video:

Have a great night!
